Day 1 Intensive Therapy

Day 1 Intensive Therapy:

Here is Mikayla all suited up and working out!

I am really impressed with Day 1, and with how Miss Mikayla has handled it. There is a long way to go yet, but it is just great to have this opportunity for Mikayla to benefit!

The suit takes a bit of getting used to.  It offers support and resistance at the same time, and is used to help improve both  Mikayla’s proprioception as well as her movement.

trying hard - Day1 Intensive TherapyIt is early days yet so both Mikayla and I are still learning about the techniques and exercises.
The session included stretching, strengthening and movement pattern repetitions.  Some exercises we are already familiar with, however it was interesting to see them done in conjunction with the suit.

Intensive Therapy and Suit therapy aren’t readily available here in Australia.  The program is expensive, and we have managed to raise approx. 22.5% of the direct therapy cost through our fundraising efforts.  Tax deductible donations towards the costs of Mikayla’s therapy can be made at

It mightn't look like it but Im still working hard

Today we spent approx. 2hrs travelling 179.2km to access therapy.  Mikayla will also be trying to keep up with her school work during the intensive therapy program.  Our home program of movement and stretching will also continue…..  Horse riding will have to wait until the end of the course 🙂
